When you’re running a company like StoneHill, or any company at all really, eventually you have to start thinking about what kind of people you want to work with. Sure, early on you’ve probably got to take what business you can get (no one can afford to be picky when they’re starting off!). But eventually your business starts to mature, and you have to decide who you want to be in business with.
That’s not just about the people you work with, either. It’s about clients, vendors, partners, and competitors. It’s about looking at the world around you and deciding what kind of relationship you want to have with the people in it.
Yes, that’s a rather wide description of a whole lot of businesses, but it’s the best way I can describe my ideal client. I’m passionate about seeing small businesses prosper. StoneHill itself was a small business once (and let’s face it, we’re not a Fortune 500 company… yet!), so I know firsthand how HARD owners of small businesses work every day. It takes determination, intuition, and guts to successfully build and maintain a small business in Orange County today.
So those are the people I want to work with. The entrepreneurs and self-starters who are determined to make a go of it. Those are the people who will be worth building a relationship with, who I want to do business with year after year. They see the value in the strategy and leadership that we promote at StoneHill.
That’s why I love being in the technology space and having the opportunity to sit down with business owners and executives every week. I love hearing about their business, understanding what they do, and working through challenges with them to see them grow and become successful.
It’s incredible to see the look on a prospect’s face when they realize they are sitting with a company who can help them achieve their objectives. When they realize that not every IT company is out to bleed them dry of cash and not add any real value to their bottom line.
We sit down, listen and really understand what our clients want and what their goals are before we every make a recommendation. Strategizing and planning is so important, and we want to make sure that our recommendations are going to take them where they want to go, have the functionality they need, and fit a price point they can afford. This is true leadership, and it’s what helped StoneHill grow from the small business we started as.
I want to pay it forward. I want to see other businesses in Orange County succeed like we have. And I know that working together, we can make that happen for your business.
